Organised a national level Research Seminar in the NSS Training College- 13 and 14 August 2026.
As the IQAC Coordinator of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, I had the privilege of organising a two-day national-level research seminar on “Teacher Education in India: Challenges and Future Directions”, held on 13 and 14 August 2026 at the college. The seminar was an important academic initiative of the institution and provided a valuable platform for engaging with contemporary issues, emerging trends, and future possibilities in teacher education.
It offered an opportunity to bring together teacher educators, researchers, scholars, and postgraduate students for serious academic deliberations on the changing landscape of teacher education in India. At a time when the education system is undergoing significant transformation under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, discussions on the future of teacher education have acquired particular importance.
The seminar focused on the major challenges confronting teacher education in the country and the directions in which the sector needs to move. The changing expectations of teachers, evolving pedagogical approaches, technological developments, quality concerns, professional competencies, research in teacher education, and the need for responsive and future-ready teacher preparation were among the broader concerns that provided the context for the academic discussions.
The two-day programme created opportunities for presentations, scholarly interactions, and discussions on various dimensions of teacher education. The participation of researchers and teacher educators enriched the academic environment of the college and encouraged meaningful exchanges of ideas and experiences.
For me, the organisation of this seminar was particularly significant as an IQAC initiative. The seminar was conceived in this spirit—as an opportunity to strengthen the research orientation of the institution and to create a space for academic engagement with issues that have direct relevance to teacher education.
The successful conduct of the seminar was the result of collective effort. The support and cooperation of the college management, principal, faculty members, IQAC members, research scholars, students, and other members of the organising team were instrumental in making the programme possible. Their commitment and coordinated efforts contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the two-day event.
